Members make recommendations to the Council regarding awareness, education and preservation of the community's natural resources. Some of MRTF's past accomplishments include: ·The Beach and Dune ordinance which was created to fill the gaps that were not addressed by DEP and Lee County. ·The ban on live shelling which will educate the public that the creatures sometimes gathered may be alive and leaving them on the beach will insure future enjoyment. ·Public education is on going for MRTF with the development of console stickers, AM radio information station, educational brochures and educational workshops to continue. One of the goals of the MRTF which has been in the works as well is the creation of The Harbor Plan which is still in the permitting stages. Once it is implemented, it will add to the safety of the Harbor. The development of a Canal Plan, water quality issues and education will be our goal for 2002. The MRTF generally meets the second Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
