- Council Discussion on the Budget (1:00-2:00 PM)
6. Setting of Proposed Millage Rate – The proposed millage rate is set by the Town Council and communicated to the Property Appraiser’s office. The Property Appraiser’s office then includes this rate in the TRIM notices to be sent to property owners notifying them of the date, time and place of the first public hearing. If the millage rate tentatively adopted exceeds that proposed rate ( as presented in the TRIM notice ) each tax payer within the Town shall be notified of the increase by first class mailing, at the expense of the Town.

- 2:00 PM - Public Hearing of Ordinance to amend the Vessel
Control and Water Safety Ordinance (96-26) - This amendment attempts to more clearly state that marked speed limits in the channels apply and are not overruled by this ordinance. It also attempts to close a loophole in the original ordinance relating to the simultaneous use of a water taxi license and a parasail license.
- 2:00 PM - Public Hearing on Amendment to the Land
Development Code Chapter 34-2175 (Building Heights) – This amendment would limit building heights so that the highest point of an exterior wall, exclusive of roof system, may not exceed 25 feet above the base flood elevation. Also the additional heights described in Section 34-2174, where the use of setbacks allow increases in height, would not apply.
- First Reading of an Ordinance establishing the Town Marine
Resources Task Force – This ordinance would establish a citizens advisory committee focused on problems and issues that are marine based. This includes both the beach side and bay side of the island.
14. Resolution on Coastal Advisory Committee - This resolution is
based on a request from the County's Coastal Advisory Committee to have the Town Council formally recognize this Committee and their work mission with regards to study, recommendations and implementation with the Town's approval of a coastal plan for the Town's beaches. This Committee had the Humiston and Moore study prepared that was presented to the Council. Their final report is available at the Town Hall.
15. 4:00 PM - Presentation by Lee County Staff on Bowditch Parking – County Staff will make a presentation on their plans for parking in the park. County Staff would like to have input from the Council and would like to be able to carry some consensus as to parking back to the Board of County Commissioners.
16. Old Business
A. Towing Ordinance – This is a re-visiting of the draft towing ordinance and an opportunity for further discussion and direction.
17. Update on Build-A-Pool Foundation – Foundation members will be giving the Council an update on the Foundation’s activities and fundraising.

20. 6:30 PM - Public Hearing for Petition to Vacate 97-06-230.03R
John Richard – This is a vacation of a three foot wide utility easement and part of a lagoon right-of-way that encumbers an existing residence at the rear of lots 5-9, block A, Island Shores Subdivision.

If a person decides to appeal a decision made by the Council in any matter considered at this meeting/hearing, such people may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made, to include the testimony and evidence upon which any such appeal is to be based.
