Dan has served as Mayor since April of 2000. Prior to becoming Mayor, he served as Vice Mayor. Dan was also a charter member to the Town's Local Planning Agency where he served for over two years, during which our award-winning Comprehensive Plan was drafted. He also served on the Technical Advisory Committee of the Metropolitan Planning Organization. He is currently the Town's representative on the Executive Board of the Lee County Economic Development Office's Horizon Council. He is a graduate of Yale University (B.A.) and Northwestern University School of Law (J.D.). He practiced law for over 30 years, especially in the fields of real estate, banking, securities and estate planning. He served for many years as city attorney and prosecutor. He represented the Chicago Mass Transit District and a number of municipalities, school districts and other governmental units. He has drafted zoning ordinances and litigated land use cases. He is also experienced in municipal fiscal matters. He was involved in the banking industry as a president, director and legal counsel of a community bank. He presently has business interests in Illinois and St. Lucia, West Indies, where he is part owner of a golf course and real estate development. He is concerned about environmental issues. He is a charter director of Estero Bay Buddies, a citizen support organization for the Estero Bay Aquatic and State Buffer Preserves.
