Bill Van Duzer Bill Van Duzer was elected to Seat #5, in November 2001. His Council Assignments include Special Projects (Old San Carlos reconstruction, Pool Walkway, etc.), Hurricane Preparedness, Hazard Mitigation, and FEMA. Prior to his election, he served as a charter member of the Local Planning Agency and the Historical Preservtion sub-committee. He has continuously played an active roll in the Town since incorporation. He served on the Lee County Construction Industry Licensing Board for 20 years and was chairman for 14 years. Bill and his wife Carolyn are long-time residents of Fort Myers Beach and raised four children on the island. All attended local schools, graduated with honors and are now married. Eight grandchildren enjoy regular visits to their grandparent's home on Ft. Myers Beach. Bill and Carolyn are very active in local service work with the Lions Club and other humanitarian projects. They continue to serve as board members for these entities and Bill has served as president of many. Bill is an active State Certified General Contractor owning his own business. He has specialized in construction of homes and small commerical structures for over 40 years. The Town has assigend Bill Van Duzer as its liaison to the Metropolitan Planning Organization and his subject assignments include, Land Use, Finance & Budget, Harbor & Bay and Public Relations.
